In what may prove to be the last opinion poll prior to September's parliamentary and October's presidential elections, the Polish left appears to be struggling to consolidate its public support. This is almost certain to culminate in a crushing defeat for the incumbent Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) to an emergent centre-right coalition in elections for the Sejm (parliament). However, the race for the presidency is more open; shaping up as a three-way contest between Wlodimierz Cimoszewicz of the SLD, Lech Kacyzynski, Warsaw's mayor and a member of the Civic Platform (PO), and Donald Tusk of the Law and Justice Party
