The government's intended legislative amendments - currently awaiting presidential approval after securing upper and lower house support -fall into four categories of reform. The first and most emotive of these is a measure designed to extend retirement rights for miners (and a limited number of workers in other fields). Under existing arrangements, miners are allowed to retire on a full pension after 25 years of service.
