BMI View: We believe the failure to impeach Romanian President Traian Basescu could actually benefit Prime Minister Victor Ponta in the November 2012 legislative elections. While Basescu's return to power will provide ammunition for Ponta's electoral campaign, we see this as negative for Romania's long-term political outlook.
