For now it appears that public opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin has died down, following the wave of violent protests that greeted him when he was officially sworn into office back in May this year. On July 27 local press reported that around 1,500 protestors gathered in central Moscow to complain about the detention of those arrested following the May riots, but the event passed with little violence. Nevertheless, we still believe that Putin will face much greater domestic opposition over the next few years than he did during his previous tenure as Russian
