The United Nations has reportedly made a request to the Belarusian government that all political prisoners currently being held should be released in light of reports suggesting widespread human rights violations. This comes nine months after Belarusian authorities dealt a harsh crackdown on civilians protesting against the outcome of presidential elections in December, which resulted in numerous arrests.
