The Hungarian forint has weakened significantly in recent weeks, hitting HUF291.80/EUR as of September 23, down from HUF275.00/EUR in early September. The forint tends to be one of the most susceptible currencies in the emerging Europe region to bouts of market risk aversion, and given the growing potential for the central bank to pursue modest monetary easing, we see further weakness over the coming weeks.
