The comments came amid tensions between Kosovo and Serbia, that are both currently attempting to join the EU. Following the discussions with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Jandrokovic, Westerwelle said that Germany is hopeful about the entry of all the nations of the former Yugoslavia into the EU, adding that all countries in the region that attempt to follow European values will be welcome. We continue to expect Croatia to join the EU in 2013, in line with the European Commission's tentative date of July 2013.
