The European Bank for Rebuilding and Development released a report on July 22 stating that the Central Asia republics are on a firm recovery path following the 2009 global economic downturn. The bank forecast Kazakhstan's economy to expand by 7% in both 2011 and 2012, buoyed by high commodity prices. We forecast the Kazakh economy to expand by 7.2% this year, slowing to 6.9% in 2012.
