Authorities in southern Tajikistan have expressed concern over the lack of jobs and education opportunities for young people returning from overseas Islamic schools, reports RFE/RL's Tajik Service. More than 1,000 Tajiks studying at foreign madrasahs and Islamic universities have returned to the country following President Emomali Rahmon's warning regarding foreign religious schools changing the ideology of these students. Around 820 students have come back from Islamic countries to Khatlon, according to Bobokhon Sharbatov, head of the Department for Religious Affairs.
