June 2011 | Risk Summarynternationally mediated talks between Georgia and Russia are at risk of breaking down, risking a renewed escalation in diplomatic tensions between both countries, following the brief war fought in August 2008. A Georgian delegation has accused Russia of sponsoring terrorist activities in Georgia, following a series of violent incidents in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, according to recent media reports. Georgia's capital Tbilisi has also been experiencing explosions since late 2010, threatening to jeopardise ongoing efforts to diffuse the tense relationship between both sides. Georgia's Secretary of the National Security Council Giorgi Bokeria recently stated that talks with Russia will unlikely continue amid growing unrest.
