Uzbek President Islam Karimov met with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev on June 14 in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent. The meeting was reportedly regarding increased cooperation over security issues. The meeting also took place at a time when relations between the two countries are seemingly worsening, largely over a dispute involving Uzbek anger and suspicion over Russian reporting of violent crackdowns on protesters in Uzbekistan.
