May 2011 | Macroeconomic ForecastsWe have revised up our forecast for Tajikistan's average consumer price inflation (CPI) to 13.7% this year, from 8.2% previously, slightly below the IMF's forecast of 13.9%. CPI has been ramping up in the central Asian country on the back of high global commodity prices and the unexpected tariff Russia levied on fuel at the beginning of the year. The mayor of Dushanbe has imposed price controls on meat sold in the markets in an effort to curtail surging food prices. In the first quarter of 2011 CPI came in at 4.5% year-on-year.
